Compressed Air Energy Reduction
Millennium Mechanical advised Kellogg’s following a compressed air retrofit project implemented at the company’s Eggo factory in San Jose, California, one of only two factories in the country currently producing the frozen breakfast treat. Kellogg’s continues to realize both annual energy savings and quality improvements because of the upgrade.
As the project manager for Kellogg’s Compressed Air Energy Controls Project, Millennium Mechanical continued to reduce costs by acting on Capital Air Systems recommendations. Kellogg’s repaired 30 system leaks for an annual cost saving of $66,000 in 2012. Furthermore, with the leak repairs and the new increased accumulation volume, Kellogg’s was able to reduce the system head pressure for an additional $7,800 savings per annum. Lastly, an annual leak repair preventive maintenance program has been established. There has been no compressor over-heating as they had in past, since the system works much smoother with the VFD controls, added accumulation, lower head pressure and minimum leak rate.
